An exciting evening event run by the Centre for Life-Writing Research: the Cabinet of Artists will be leading an imaginative tour of London’s busy thoroughfare, the Strand.

Strand Peasants, Poets, Soldiers, Priests, Craftsmen, Pilots, Novelists and Polymaths; Flowers, Poisoned Umbrellas, Songs and Games…

The day will feature short talks exploring lives on the Strand, a music recital, and presentations from Strandlines’ Cabinet of Artists.

The Centre for Life-Writing Research is pleased to announce a forthcoming January event in its StrandLives series, 2011-12.

On 16th January, 6:15-7:30, Dr Christine Kenyon Jones will be giving a talk on: 

‘Animals in the Strand: the elephant in the room' 

The Centre for Life-Writing Research is pleased to announce the first lecture in its StrandLives series, 2011-12. 

On 5th December 2011, 6:15-7:30pm, Patrick Wright, Professor of Literature and Visual & Material Culture at King’s College London will be speaking on: 

‘The Iron Curtain: the true origins of a political metaphor that divided the world.’

 

Strand Lives

StrandLives seeks to enhance awareness of, and interest in, the life-stories associated with the Strand. A series of six distinguished lectures and dialogues, running monthly in the autumn and spring of 2011-12, will highlight the achievements of eminent King’s researchers in medicine, science and the arts and humanities. A day conference in June will invite presentations of a variety of less familiar StrandLives Read more »
